Use this guide to connect your Kit account, export newsletter drafts from ClickMinded into Kit, and review performance after you send.

Use this guide to connect your Kit account, export newsletter drafts from ClickMinded into Kit, and review performance after you send.

What this integration does

The Kit integration lets you:

  • connect your Kit account to ClickMinded
  • assign a specific newsletter to a Kit audience target
  • export generated newsletters as Kit drafts
  • choose which subject line and preheader to send
  • update an existing unsent draft when you re-export
  • sync campaign performance back into ClickMinded after the email is sent

Before you start

You’ll need:

  • a ClickMinded Newsletter Generator account
  • a Kit account
  • at least one newsletter already set up in ClickMinded

Step 1: Connect your Kit account

  1. In ClickMinded, go to Settings
  2. Open the Integrations tab
  3. Click Connect Kit
  4. Complete the Kit authorization flow
  5. Return to ClickMinded

Once connected, you should see your Kit account listed under Integrations.

Step 2: Assign a newsletter to Kit

After connecting Kit, choose which Kit destination a specific newsletter should use.

  1. Open the newsletter you want to configure
  2. Click Edit Newsletter
  3. Open the Delivery tab
  4. In the Kit section:
  • choose your connected Kit account
  • choose a Target Mode
  • optionally choose a template
  • optionally override the sender email
  1. Click Save

Kit target modes

You can export to:

  • All subscribers
  • Segment
  • Tag

If you choose Segment or Tag, select the specific audience target you want to use.

Step 3: Export a newsletter draft to Kit

  1. Open a generated newsletter edition in ClickMinded
  2. Click Export
  3. Choose Export to Kit
  4. In the export dialog:
  • choose the subject line version
  • choose the preheader version
  • preview both selections
  1. Click Export to Kit

ClickMinded will create a draft in Kit and open it in a new tab.

What happens after export

After export:

  • a draft broadcast is created in Kit
  • the draft opens in the Kit editor
  • ClickMinded stores the Kit draft ID for future sync
  • ClickMinded stores the newsletter URLs for later click analysis

Draft naming

Drafts are named using this format:

[Newsletter Name] - YYYYMMDD

Example:

ClickMinded Weekly - 20260407

What happens if you export again

If the previous Kit draft is still editable and has not been sent yet, ClickMinded will update that existing draft instead of creating a brand new one.

If the previous draft has already been sent or can no longer be updated safely, ClickMinded will create a new draft.

Step 4: Send from Kit

ClickMinded exports a draft only.

To actually send the email:

  1. Review the draft in Kit
  2. Make any final changes you want
  3. Send or schedule it from Kit

Step 5: View performance back in ClickMinded

After the draft is sent from Kit, ClickMinded can sync performance data back into the newsletter history page.

You’ll be able to see:

  • delivery status
  • open rate
  • click rate
  • unsubscribe count
  • top-performing links

When stats appear

Stats will not appear until the draft has actually been sent in Kit.

After sending:

  • wait for the next background sync
  • or use the Refresh button in the delivery section

ClickMinded stores URL-level performance for exported newsletters.

That means:

  • it can track which links got clicks
  • it can show top links for a sent newsletter
  • if the same exact URL appears multiple times in a newsletter, ClickMinded treats that as one tracked URL for reporting purposes

Troubleshooting

I don’t see Kit in ClickMinded

Try this first:

  • make sure your Kit account is connected under Settings > Integrations
  • make sure the newsletter has been assigned a Kit connection under Edit Newsletter > Delivery
  • refresh the page after connecting

If you still don’t see it, contact support.

Kit connected, but export is disabled

This usually means the newsletter itself has not been configured for Kit yet.

Go to:

Edit Newsletter > Delivery

Then select:

  • a Kit connection
  • a target mode
  • any optional settings you want

Save the newsletter and try again.

I exported, but I don’t see stats yet

This is expected if the draft has not been sent from Kit yet.

Stats only appear after:

  1. the draft is sent in Kit
  2. ClickMinded syncs the delivery data

I exported again and expected a new draft

If the existing draft is still editable, ClickMinded will update that draft instead of creating a new one.

This is intentional and helps avoid duplicate drafts in Kit.

I expected the export to update my latest changes

ClickMinded exports the saved version of the newsletter.

Before exporting, make sure you save your latest changes in ClickMinded.

Frequently asked questions

Does ClickMinded send the email for me?

No. ClickMinded creates the newsletter and exports it to Kit as a draft. You send or schedule it from inside Kit.

Can I choose which subject line to use?

Yes. During export, you can choose the subject line and preheader independently.

Can I export multiple times?

Yes. Re-exporting will usually update the current unsent Kit draft. If that draft is no longer reusable, ClickMinded will create a new one.

Can I still edit the draft inside Kit?

Yes. After export, you can continue editing inside Kit before sending.
